Consortium for Literary & Cultural Studies Centre for Comparative Studies of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon Call for Papers Fear and Fantasy in a Global World – Hermes Symposium – Centro Cultural de Cascais (Portugal) June 12-18, 2011 From financial depression to natural disasters, flu pandemics and terrorist threats, notions of crisis and catastrophe play an increasing role in our collective imagination and cultural memory. The 2011 Hermes Seminar and Symposium aims to explore the multiple ways in which arts and culture absorb, rework or challenge many of our fears and fantasies in a global world. Abstracts of approximately 250 words should be submitted to Sónia Ribeiro and Marta Pacheco Pinto (hermes2011@fl.ul.pt) by 11 February 2011. |
