Welcome and Graduation Ceremony to celebrate the start of the semester

Continuing our tradition of welcoming new doctoral students to the GCSC, we would like to invite you to our annual Welcome (and Graduation) Ceremony on Monday, October 18th 2010. The ceremony will commence at 6.15 pm in the JLU’s grand hall (main building). This year, the Welcome Ceremony is not only the festive opening of the new term. It is the first time that the first cohort of doctoral students that has completed the structured doctoral training in cultural studies and submitted their doctoral theses will be honored. For this very delightful reason, this year’s ceremony goes by the name of “Welcome and Graduation Ceremony”. The festive programme is open to all members of the GCSC. Following the official opening, we will host a reception in the comfortable foyer of the JLU main building. This is a great opportunity to meet and greet other doctoral students and alumni and to have a snack while listening to jazz music performed live by Burkhart Mayer and his band.
