Regulations & Requirements

Step by Step to your PhD

The regulations connected with a PhD can be daunting at first. So we created a simple guide outlining all the necessary steps depending on faculty:

Furthermore you should note what constitutes good academic practice at the GCSC.

During your Dissertation

At each stage of your research project the GCSC offers a number of courses to support you. Our curriculum provides you with an overview of the compulsory modules. Beyond these compulsory modules we offer a wide array of courses that you are welcome to choose from.

We offer our members workplaces on the Phil I campus. Please study our workplace-allocation guideline for details.

If you are a member and employed in the HE sector while working on your dissertation, read our employment guidelines to see whether you are eligible for an extension of your membership. If you hold a scholarship and receive secondary income, please check what regulations apply.

Finishing Up

If you are a native speaker of a language other than German who writes his or her dissertation in German or in the language of your academic discipline (except your native tongue), you are eligible to apply for editorial support by a native speaker to proof-read your thesis.
Once you are ready to finish your dissertation, you might want to look at the template we provide for its title page.
