Principal Investigators

Principal Investigators (PIs) are academics who are actively involved in the GCSC and substantially contribute to its research programme. These postdocs and professors focus on fields and projects which are closely connected to the research profile of the GCSC and are involved in committees and/or participate in the curriculum, research areas or Working Groups of the GCSC. Supporting doctoral students in their PhD-projects, as well as contributing to the research profile of the GCSC, Principal Investigators are also integrated into the structures and daily affairs of the Graduate Centre. Covering a wide range of different areas of expertise, they make excellent mentors for PhD students and offer support in questions regarding research projects and academic commitment. The PIs are elected by the Board of Directors, the status of PI is granted by the university’s president and the PI’s performance is evaluated at regular intervals.
