The GCSC offers an excellent environment for young and established scholars alike. We encourage applications from graduate students from around the world working in the humanities and social sciences on topics related to the study of culture.
Doctoral candidates can either apply for membership or scholarship. Our members follow GCSC’s curriculum and mentoring system, contribute to one or more of our Research Areas, benefit from our teaching centre and career service and are embedded in our international network, which enables them to complete high-quality PhD projects in three years. Take a look at our membership page to see if you are eligible.
GCSC scholarship holders are offered the same opportunities, with the extra benefit of a monthly grant of approximately €1.000. We give out up to 9 doctoral scholarships every year to our most qualified applicants. For details, please see our scholarship section.
Post-doctoral researchers with a proven record of academic exellence are invited to apply for a postdoctoral fellowship.
Scholarships and fellowships are advertised every winter on our website and in other relevant media. The deadline for applications is in early March for October entry. We strongly encourage international applications. Should you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact us at gcsc-at-gcsc.uni-giessen.de
Additionally, part-time job opportunities for doctoral students who would like to join the GCSC team are offered, subject to availability. Vacancies are advertised on this page, in our newsletter and other relevant media.
